JUZU Bead Bracelet

A deeply meaningful Juzu bracelet crafted from rare Yakusugi cedar from Yakushima Island, Japan. Each 10mm bead is engraved with a portion of the Heart Sutra, one of the central texts of Mahayana Buddhism. Worn as a complete circle, the bracelet contains the full sutra, creating a beautiful connection between traditional Buddhist practice and everyday reflection.
Yakusugi is a prized form of Japanese cedar found on Yakushima Island. Because cutting living Yakusugi trees is prohibited, contemporary pieces are made using naturally fallen or buried wood, known as Domaiboku. This makes the material especially valued for its rarity, age, and distinctive natural character.
The name Yakusugi is also associated with yaku-sugi, a Japanese wordplay connected with warding off misfortune. As a result, Yakusugi has traditionally been associated with longevity, protection, prosperity, and good fortune.
Each Juzu is handcrafted in Kyoto, Japan by Kyoto Kanbe Juzu, whose tradition of preserving Japanese Juzu craftsmanship dates back to 1918.
The bracelet comes presented in a traditional paulownia wood box, valued in Japan for its light weight and moisture-resistant properties. The box provides a beautiful way to store and protect your Juzu when not in use, making this an especially thoughtful gift or keepsake.
