"Sakura (cherry blossom) is the flower of happiness. I love cherry blossoms. My fateful encounter with the Usuzumi (faint-colored) cherry blossoms in Neomura, Gifu Prefecture took place in 1963. The 1,200-year-old tree was on the verge of withering then, but I wished to see the tree in full bloom again. - Uno Chiyo
Uno Chiyo worked hard to save the old cherry blossom tree. It was beautifully revived and after that, the Usuzumi cherry blossoms became full bloom in the mountain village, introducing the arrival of spring every year. It became one of the 'Three Great Cherry Blossom Trees of Japan'.
